After a wonderful 6 week stretch, The Next Stop’s summer bowling adventures are over. The premise was easy—everyone would show up at 2:30 pm on Tuesday afternoons at the Oasis Bowling Center, we’d bowl for two rounds, and then head off to the dining room for pizza and games.
We had a great group of people involved, both bowling and volunteering. Our average amount of bowlers was eight, and we were lucky enough to have four fantastic volunteers help out. A special thanks goes out to Jennifer, Barbara, Katrina, and Karin. We couldn’t have done this without your help!
In six weeks, everyone had a lot of fun. We saw a lot of neat things—Sarah’s three strikes in a row, Robert’s miraculous split knockdown for a spare, and an overall camaraderie in which the participants would cheer one another on when it wasn’t their turn. We had a birthday celebration for two of our participants, Jenna, and Sarah, which included a free bowling shirt for the birthday girls courtesy of Oasis Bowling Center, and everyone really enjoyed the party (I mean, who doesn’t love cake?).
As much fun as our time at the bowling alley was, the summer escapades had to end at some point, but we made sure to go out on a high note, celebrating our last day with a giant cookie cake! Because of her extreme generosity, we presented Cecilia, manager of Oasis Bowling Center, with a plant and a card to show our gratitude for all that she’s done for us. Thanks so much, Cecilia!
Our Tuesday bowling was a lot of fun, but this fall’s program at the Suwanee Sports Academy is going to be even better! Stay tuned for more details
