Has anyone ever heard of noodle hockey! Using a beach ball for a puck, our members ran and swung their pool noodles like hockey sticks and got the best exercise we’ve had in awhile. It also was some great entertainment. The boys beat the girls, but am sure there will be a rematch!
We were lucky enough to have great weather this week with the temperature climbing into the 60’s. Using a written checklist, we went on a “winter nature walk” identifying things as we walked. Not all things were seen, but also heard and felt. Was great to get breaths of fresh air!
One of our volunteers, Ms. Celie, honored her dad this week by involving our members in a project. He is turning 80 soon, but lives up north in the cold and won’t be celebrating his birthday with his not so near family until the spring thaw. After telling us all about her dad and his life, our members made birthday cards to send him. Ms. Celie has arranged for other friends of her too to send cards. What a great surprise this will be–and what a great opportunity for our members to be a part of this loving gesture.
Because Thomas Edison had a birthday this week–February 11–we put together a home made light bulb in his memory. Of course, it only stayed lit for about 4 seconds, but it was exciting while it lasted!
