The Next Stop is taking two weeks off, but we spent the first part of June enjoying many activities…..
Who doesn’t enjoy a fruity smoothie in the summer? TNS celebrated National Frozen Yogurt Day by creating their smoothies with fruits of choice.
To illustrate what “mass production” of the Model T Ford means, our members put together candy cars–assembly line style. Everyone in their group had one part to add. The entire car was available for a take home snack–except, of course, the glued on “Smarty” headlights and “Smarty” steering wheel!
Lynnette Swanson visited TNS and taught us how to play bocce ball. What a great game that can include everyone!
To end our June calendar, we celebrated King Kamehameha Day—a state holiday in Hawaii honoring the king who united all the Hawaiian islands in the 1800’s. A great excuse to wear our Hawaiian attire, play limbo, and have relays with pineapples and grass skirts, etc.! The best of the day was preparing Huli Huli Chicken on the George Foreman grill and enjoying it with fresh pineapple. Who knew there is a Hawaiian song called “The Huli Huli Chicken Dance”!?—how fun!
